United Way seeks funding proposals

  BLOOMSBURG – The United Way of Columbia County is now accepting proposals to fund projects that show cooperation among community organizations. The funding comes from the United Way’s Community Fund.

A letter outlining the project should be sent to the United Way.

If judged appropriate by the Community Fund Committee, a full application will be forwarded to the organization seeking funds. The application asks for a detailed description of the program and a budget showing the contributions from the community partners.

Applications will be accepted until March 30, 2007 at five o’clock PM.  

Grants will be awarded by the United Way Board at its meeting in late April, and applicants will be notified by May 15, 2007.

 Recent award recipients include:

2006—Bethesda Day Treatment, Center, $1,000; Columbia-Montour Home Hospice, $1,000;       

           The Children’s Museum, $500; The Forum for Pennsylvania’s Heartland -

           “Make-A-Difference 2006,” $1,000.

 2005--Millville Park Commission, Camp Can Do, summer kid’s activity, $500;

           Columbia Montour Women’s Conference, Inc. $400
